We spoke to founder and Christmas Gift Guider, Sameena, of Sami and Ethical Stories Ethical Me. After co-founding the ethical fashion market place, Sameena felt the desire to start designing her own jewellery pieces and set out to launch her own brand.

INTRODUCE YOURSELF! WHAT IS YOUR NAME &

WHICH COMPANY ARE YOU FROM?

My name is Sameena Mawji. I am the founder of the brand Sami and the ethical marketplace Ethical Stories Ethical Me.

INTRODUCE YOUR BRAND IN 3 WORDS

Playful, elegant, ethical.

AMAZING! HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR?

Our market place, Ethical Stories Ethical Me, is three years old. Our jewellery brand, Sami, is nine months old.

WHAT DOES YOUR BRAND MEAN / STAND FOR?

Sami jewellery takes inspiration from nature and is a celebration of colour. Our pieces are designed for those who enjoy accessorizing with an elegant statement piece of jewellery that has a little playful twist. The collection is designed in London and handcrafted in Jaipur, India. We believe that each purchase should support Sami artisans and help support the country where our materials are sourced and crafted. This is why Sami only partners with workshops who follow fair trade practices, and 10% of proceeds are donated to the charity Future Hope, providing a classroom education for children living on the streets and in the slums across India.

WHERE DID THE IDEA FOR YOUR BUSINESS COME FROM?

It evolved from having co-founded Ethical Stories Ethical Me, an ethical fashion marketplace, with my sister. As our journey progressed I felt the desire to start designing my own jewellery pieces and I paired this with my ever-growing interest in the healing properties and energies of semi and precious stones. I wanted to create a collection that made our Sami customers feel great aesthetically but also on a deeper level through creating a positive impact on the world and through the use of colour and stone types.
