Meet our member: Pamela from Brooks and Sharpe
We’ve caught up with PR Dispatch member, Pamela Sharpe, founder of Brooks and Sharpe, an online platform showcasing the best of independent and eco-friendly luxury fashion brands. Read one to find out her biggest achievement to date and her guilty pleasure food (which we love!).
INTRODUCE YOUR BRAND IN THREE WORDS?
Independent luxury fashion.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR?
The business launched in August 2019.
WHAT DOES THE NAME OF YOUR BRAND MEAN / STAND FOR?
The brand name is made up of the founder’s last names: Joel Brooks and Pam Sharpe.
FAVOURITE DOWNTIME ACTIVITY?
I am a bit of a cliche - catch up on my favourite tv shows and by catch up I definitely mean binge watch.
WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
The best thing about running my own business is that I get to do what I love. I can happily work away late into the night and it never feels like a chore because I absolutely love what I do.
The biggest achievement would be getting the platform to where it is today. We have had so many hiccups along the way, things breaking on the website and some real hair tearing moments that nearly broke me but building the platform to where it is now with all the amazing brands that we have curated is simply amazing.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK FIVE YEARS AND TELL YOURSELF ONE THING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
To not be afraid to go for what I want. 5 years ago I was quiet and shy, not someone who would ever put myself forward to be the face of anything and preferred to work in the background.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR BRAND TO BE IN 5 YEARS TIME?
I would love the brand to be one of the leading platforms to discover new and exciting eco friendly fashion brands from around the world.
ONE THING YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
Lip balm! An odd one but the feeling of dry lips drives me up the wall.
YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE FOOD?
Oven chips covered in melted cheese and sweet chilli sauce..! A questionable combo but so yummy!
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO SOMEONE WANTING TO START THEIR OWN BRAND?
Do your research and don’t be afraid to ask for help. There is no blueprint for business success and you will make a lot of mistakes, have some down days and terrible days - but do not give up on your dream! Keep at it and be consistent no matter what day you are having.
