Ways you can support brands without shopping with them

The likelihood if you are reading this, is that you love small businesses just as much as we do. In order to help them out this year, we must all make a conscious effort to support them in any way we can, and there are plenty of ways to do this even before shopping with them.

Below are some ways in which we can all help independent businesses this Christmas.

A FEW KIND WORDS GOES A LONG WAY

Leave a glowing google review, we all read them so why not help them out there.

Let others know your experience with them and you could push a deciding customer to purchase.

SPREAD THE LOVE…

…by tagging your favourite small businesses in Instagram posts or stories, encouraging your followers to shop small this Christmas.

A NICE SOCIAL MEDIA BOOST

Like/comment/share and save Instagram posts by small businesses you admire.

Saving posts also helps boost reach on Instagram for those businesses.

TELL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

If your family or friends discuss present ideas, you could gently encourage them to think about gifts from indie brands.

These gifts tend to be more thoughtful, are of a higher quality and you can see the care taken to create them.

STAY IN THE KNOW

Subscribe to the brands’ mailing lists to hear about their new launches and last postal order dates.

CROSS-MARKETING

Write a blog post about the importance of supporting small indie businesses in the run-up to Christmas and link some of your favourite small online stores.

TRY AVOIDING THE BIG BRANDS

They will be using hard marketing tactics this Christmas season to get us to shop with them.

Instead, source alternatives from small brands. Vote with your wallet, and support your indies.
