HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR?
I've been in business since December 2010
WHAT DOES THE NAME OF YOUR BRAND MEAN / STAND FOR?
'Seed' is my maiden name and the business is set up in a Design Studio kind of format, so 'Studio Seed seemed perfect! I also love the fact that the brand is all about growing connections with loved ones which sits with the 'seeds blooming' analogy.
FAVOURITE DOWN TIME ACTIVITY?
To relax, I love the simple things like a good box set and a cup of tea! Since becoming a Mama two years ago I've learnt to take pleasure in a bit of peace and quiet.
WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? AND YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
The most rewarding part of running my own business is the fact that I have control to steer the company in whichever direction I choose, and to designs products which I love and really believe in. I love the creative freedom I have and seeing products come to fruition from initial idea, through development to the final thing is just the best!
I would say my greatest achievement so far is just still being able to do what I love every day after nearly ten years.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK FIVE YEARS AND TELL YOURSELF ONE THING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I'd tell myself to dream bigger. I am still learning to push myself out of my comfort zones, but I find that when I do, I achieve so much more.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR BRAND TO BE IN 5 YEARS TIME?
In five years, I'd love Studio Seed to be the go-to gifting brand in the UK. I'd love to expand our studio and team to be able to work on more product areas and to serve more of our customers. I'd also absolutely love to have a bricks and mortar boutique one day but I'd be nervous to think about that in the current economic climate.
ONE THING YOU COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
Could not live without caffeine!
YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE FOOD?
My guilty pleasure is chocolate oranges... when I was pregnant I got through about 4 a week - don't judge me!
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WANTING TO START THEIR OWN BRAND?
My best advice would be proactivity!
