Meet the member: Lara and Julie from AmaElla

This week we caught up with Lara San Gil & Julie Kervadec, friends and founders of AmaElla - an ethical cotton lingerie brand on a mission to have a positive social and environmental impact on the fashion industry.

How long have you been in business?

Our online store opened in May 2017.

Describe your product in 3 words.

Organic, Ethical, Beautiful.

One thing you wished you’d known before starting your own brand?

Things will take longer than you originally estimate them too!

What’s your biggest achievement whilst running your brand?

Having our collection featured by Lucy Siegle (environmental journalist and executive producer of True Cost movie) in The Guardian:

“The perfect pyjama set combining ethically sourced fabrics and European production with the prettiest design. The bra and knickers are lovely too”.

Why do you think PR is important?

As a startup with a limited marketing budget, PR is one of the most useful tools to raise awareness about our brand and mission. Additionally, being featured in a recognised magazine makes you a credible brand in the eyes of the public.

If you could be featured anywhere (print or online) where would it be

Drapers, Refinery 29, Marie Claire, Elle, Cosmopolitan

And finally, in the next year, you want to…

We want to grow our brand to a larger scale but in addition to that, we also want to spread the word about ethical fashion and the importance of it.
